Great portrait of John Coltrane. I'd love to find a print of it to frame. I wonder what painting he's standing in front of. It's almost like a Franz Kline, but it's not.. oh trusty google, you can't give me all the answers.
So, I had the same question. Did some research and I believe it's Robert Motherwell, from the Guggenheim in NYC. First thought was De Kooning, but found out it's Motherwell.
