LCD Soundsystem + Miles Davis

Helms a Lee readers know I like playing two youtube windows at the same time.  Real time editing style.  Pretend DJing.  This is a fun one.

LCD Soundsystem "Shut Up and Play the Hits"

I had the good fortune of going to the last LCD Soundsystem concert at Madison Square Garden.   Below is the trailer for a documentary they made of the 48 hours surrounding the show.  It gives me chills for 95% of the piece, then it unfortunately takes a turn to make the doc look like a retail plug for James Murphy's solo project.  But whatever, it's still going to be amazing.

I Heart NY

New York I love you, but yr bringing me down. Thank you, James Murphy, for providing the soundtrack to my little life for the last few years.

And NY, I've missed you so! Madison Square Garden for the first time, LCD Soundsystem for the last, a long awaited weekend with the boys, and a respite from an insane stretch of work.

Because weekends were / made for fun

This is happening

Pitchfork put out this comprehensive guide to all things LCD Soundsystem. It's perfect in flight reading material for yours truly, who will be going to New York early Friday morning for the bachelor party... which includes LCD's final show (!!).

we set controls for the heart of the sun

LCD Soundystem announced that they'll be playing their final concert on April 2 at Madison Square Garden. It'll be a 3-hour marathon set backed by a choir, a string section and a horn section, and a black and white dress code will be strictly enforced [maybe a reason to finally wear my tux again!]. Sound of Silver and This is Happening were the soundtrack to two amazing summers for my friends and me, and we all just so happen to be in NY for a bachelor party that weekend. I'm rolling up my sleeves for ticket sales Friday morning.

Here's the last summer's recap, again, with LCD's "Home".
