DJ Questlove

Professor Questlove on his approach to DJ'ing parties

"I’m less concerned about providing a good soundtrack for the night than I am for manipulating you emotionally through your memories."

The xx "Chained"

I was as big a fan of The xx as you were until I saw them in concert couple years ago.  This might have just won me back over.

Dirty Projectors "Dance for You"

gosh, this album is good

Indie Game: The Movie

Looks like a compelling story.  Great music cue by Jim Guthrie.

Happy Birthday Biggie

Belated, sorry Notorious.  Biggie would have been 40 two days ago.  Here he is at 17.  Who has this kind of swagger at 17?!

St. Vincent's Annie Clark just confirmed that she and David Byrne recently finished writing and recording an album together.  Coming out this Fall.  No big deal.

Pulp. so good

Pulp on Jimmy Fallon doing "Like a Friend" and "Common People".  In all his struggles, Fallon has always done music right.

Does anyone have an extra ticket to the Glass House show?

Beta Frontiers "Hondo"

eight-bit easter dance party

fun to watch the bike gif below loop for a few bars.  #editing!

In defense of boredom

Good article by Dave Bry for The Awl on how a lot of today's best art is "boring".

Paul Harding's Tinkers, Jasper Johns' paintings, Low's music, baseball, and slowing down to explore the space between stuff.

Toro y Moi "Mayor Normal"

A cut off of Helms-a-Lee favorite Toro y Moi's demo CD-R.  Channeling a little Jeff Tweedy.  Good stuff for a Friday afternoon.

Chet Baker Live

Chet Baker live at Le Dreher in Paris in February 1980.  It's 52 good minutes worth of soundtrack for your morning.

I don't know what this is but I like it.  Nothing like a good groove, right?  Prepare to be transported to a mid summer Friday afternoon.
