Happy Friday!
I don't know how the hell these guys did this, but it's pretty amazing. They somehow open up a river on North Shore and surf their man made waves. Real watermen, these guys.

William Devaughn = Summer
A few hours removed from the longest day of the year, and just a few hours until my first visit to the Hollywood Bowl, it's officially summertime.
This ditty has been at my fingertips for many a summer season, and always feels right this time of year.

panda bear + cobra kai + surfing
This album is part of my official biking to work / getting ready to surf soundtrack here in breezy Venice. Here's a fan-created video for Panda Bear's "Surfer's Hymn".
the state of political ads
This is a real political ad, created by a conservative group fighting against Democratic Congressional candidate Janice Hahn and for Republican candidate Craig Huey.
Both Hahn and Huey have condemned the ad for some reason, but it's amazing sad catchy this summer's big hit scary telling making me want to vote against this crazy woman who hired real gang bangers with tax payer money so they can go out and rape and kill people!!

Daft Punk "Alive"
In this music video for Daft Punk's "Alive", director Emile Hirsch shows the world that when it comes to dance fights, there are only winners.

Sword of the Sun
Mr. Palomar swims in that sword, or, more precisely, that sword remains always before him; at every stroke of his, it retreats, and never allows him to overtake it.
"Mr. Palomar", short story by Italo Calvino. it's worth your 10 minutes, if i may say so. find it here.

Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trailer
Cool trailer for Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
Cut by David Fincher himself, it doesn't have a lot of the trailer conventions, leaving a music video experience with some fun copy at the end. But it's compelling and manages to tell a tiny bit of story, albeit with a cover of an overused cue.
Swagger!
