Beginners

Focus Features has done it again. Beginners, with Ewan McGreggor and Christopher Plummer, looks like a gem.

Forget it, Jake. It's Chinatown.

The Egyptian Theater is showing eight Roman Polanski films in four nights, including my favorite Knife in the Water, LA classic Chinatown, and Repulsion, which I've never gotten around to seeing.

Peep World

It's a big day at Helms-a-Lee! I got my first trailer finish. I've finished theatrical TV spots, but this is my first piece that'll play on the silver screen. It's for IFC's "Peep World" and it went live on yahoo movies today. Stay tuned to find out what (limited, limited) movies it'll play in front of.

Manhattan Opening Sequence

I posted the opening title sequence to Woody Allen's Manhattan last Summer, but I watched it again today, and it's just that good. Couldn't help myself.

New Panda Bear

Alas, Panda Bear is coming out with a new album this April. Here's a sneak peek. What a great song. The album is sure to be a big part of my Spring soundtrack in my new digs in Venice... early bike rides to work, earlier morning jogs on the sand, Sunday afternoons reading on my balcony. Thank you Noah Lennox!

addendum: plz disregard Panasonic's FIVE minute credit run for this serviceable promo video after Panda Bear's great four minute song. holy self-indulgence, batman.

Friday Dance Off

I saw the Greek dark comedy Dogtooth last night, a satire about a warped experiment in social conditioning and control. It was weird and unsettling, but quite good.

It's the start of a three day weekend. What better way to kick it off than a couple great dance sequences? One from Dogtooth, the other from Band of Outsiders.
Enjoy!
